To plan and produce an online educational programme for Tamworth Castle serving Key Stage 1 through 4, covering the evolution of the building, changes in society, and the history of crime and punishment across a thousand years.

The programme needed to work as a remote and self-directed resource for schools, fully aligned to the UK curriculum, and engaging for the full range of primary and secondary age groups without requiring a physical visit to the castle.

We developed a single narrative framework: Tamworth Castle News: Reporting on 1000 Years of History.

This gave the entire programme a consistent voice and format across all age groups, while allowing each Key Stage to engage with the same themes at increasing depth and complexity.

Working closely with the castle's education team, we planned and produced the full suite of content: object-based learning sessions, character interviews bringing figures from the castle's history to life, feature segments about the building's evolution, as well as guided debates with PhD researchers from Royal Holloway, experts in the history of law, crime and punishment in the UK.

Lesson plans, teacher resources, website pages and a school access plan were designed and developed to make the programme immediately usable without additional preparation.

The same subjects and themes can be taught coherently across every Key Stage, what changes is not the story but the depth at which it is explored and the types of engagement and activity planned for.

A strong narrative framework makes that scaling feel natural rather than forced.

A site like Tamworth Castle sits at the intersection of historical significance and contemporary relevance: crime, punishment, justice and social change are as live as subjects get, and framing them through a castle's thousand-year history gives students both distance and proximity to ideas that still matter today.

The news format enabled us to treat history as reportage gave every production decision - what to film, who to interview, how to structure a lesson - a clear and consistent frame of reference that kept the entire programme coherent from planning through to delivery.
